BROOKLYN– Keith Malek enjoys believing that he’s an internationally acclaimed journalist, but he admitted the other day that he wishes his schizophrenia would take a more interesting form. According to the London Times, he specifically used Hollywood as an example, saying, “Why can’t I be like Ed Norton’s character in Fight Club, or like John Nash in A Beautiful Mind? Ed Norton got to beat people senseless, and John Nash was constantly being chased by imaginary government agents. With my schizophrenia, I believe that I’m a journalist. How boring is that?”
Malek has been given medication for his schizophrenia, but he refuses to take it, believing that, without it, his delusions will finally become more interesting.
