Basketball Player Takes 144 Steps Without Being Called For Traveling

TORONTO– In a playoff game against the New Jersey Nets, Toronto Raptors point guard Darrick Martin took 144 steps before dribbling the basketball. Despite the fact that this is a clear violation of the rules, Martin was not called for traveling. The play occurred with only ten seconds left in the fourth quarter, and it resulted in Martin scoring the winning basket, giving the Raptors a 101-99 victory. Both players and fans alike were angry at the officials for not making the call. One of those fans was Tommy London, 32, who said, “It’s no secret that referees in the NBA are pretty lenient when it comes to enforcing the traveling rule, but this was ridiculous.” After the game, referee Lee Romero admitted that he made a mistake. “Upon watching the video tape of tonight’s game, I realize that Darrick Martin definitely traveled,” he said. “I am deeply sorry for my error. Lately, I have been suffering from vision problems.”
